ABOUT SAN DAMIANO BOYS' HOSTEL, KIULU

Early 2011, MYTC had taken under its wing, a Rural Youth Development Programme which is the San Damiano Boys Hostel, located in Kiulu, about 41km from Kota Kinabalu. The Hostel was previously managed by the Franciscan Sisters to provide residential care to 60 (Form 1 to Form 6) school-going Youth who would find it impossible to walk to the school due to the distances from their village homes. Under MYTC, the hostel facilities were upgraded to provide a conducive home and learning environment for the Boarders. The Hostel currently has four (4) staff to run the residential care programme along the same line as at MYTC main campus.

san damiano celebrating st. louis marie de montfort feast day

A group of visitors from Malaysia Steemit Sabah team visited to San Damiano Boys’ Hostel Kiulu on 28th April 2018. In conjunction with St Louis Marie de Montfort feast day, they take the opportunity to celebrate with the Boarders by having fellowship activities. They have generously sponsored the fellowship lunch and a beautiful cake to commemorate the occasion.

ABOUT ST. MARY'S YOUTH HOSTEL, SANDAKAN

The agreement for the management of the St Mary's Youth Centre, Sandakan between the Titular Superior of the Brothers of St Gabriel, Malaya and the Registered Trustee of the Diocese of Sandakan was officially sealed on Tuesday, 18th February 2014. Brother Stephen Tee SG represented the Brothers of St Gabriel while Rt Rev Julius Dusin Gitom, the Bishop of Sandakan represented the Diocese of Sandakan. Present to witness the event were Fr Thomas Makajil, the rector of St Mary's Cathedral Parish, members of the Board of Governors and the Centre's Management Committee.

With the agreement being formalized, St Mary's Youth Centre located at Batu 2.5 Jalan Utara, Sandakan will be managed through the Monfort Youth Training Centre (MYTC) as part of its extension programme for the care of youth.

The Brothers of St Gabriel and MYTC will implement residential care systems and programme activities. Apart from providing staff development programme, they are committed to building the Centre into a place conducive to learning, character formation with spiritual animation. The Management Committee will see to the provision of funds necessary for the sustenance of operating the centre and to over-see the management of the Centre.

SMYH celebrated the feast day of St. Marie De Montfort with a fellowship dinner on 28 April 2018. Among the invited guest were Bishop Datuk Julius Gitom, Parish Priest; Rev. Father David Garaman, Religious sisters, Friends of Montfort and representatives from Tzu Chi Foundation.

a talk on SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE AND SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE

Talk on sex before marriage and sexually transmitted disease was given by Dr. Henry Ong Ming Leong, MBBS PG DIP (Australia), a close friend of Montfort, to the boarders of St. Mary’s Youth Hostel on 19 May 2018. He shared his experienced in treating patient as young as 15 years old with STD and further highlighted to them the risks of sex before marriage.
